This Vida Gin is a contemporary style gin made predominantly with local botanicals. Beautifully balanced and flavoursome, with notes of citrus and pepper and a very smooth finish. Vida is perfectly paired with a slice of kiwi fruit, or a fresh pear and a few black peppercorns.
This gin pays homage to Vida Goldstein. Vida was born in Portland in 1869, an Australian suffragist and social reformer. Vida was also the first female to run for federal parliament in Australia, showing strength and spirit, as does our namesake gin.
When availability from Europe and Asia became a little tight for certain botanicals, we started looking to our own paddocks and roadside to replace some key botanicals. During some trials there was a eureka moment when we discovered something that not only worked as a replacement, but it also actually took the gin in a whole new (better) direction!!
